Rope-making in graphicsprice: 85.00 PLNENABLEPRODUCT DISABLEGraphics from various corners of Europe presented in the publication show the work of ropemakers, their workshops, machines, tools and products. They enable the reader to compare the work, technology and manufacture of ropes by French, English, Italian or Polish ropemakers.
Extremely interesting are the open-air ropemaking tracks and ropeworks - long brick buildings, some reaching more than 300 metres - such as those at Rochefort, Toulon and Brest in France, or the rope-making hall at the Arsenale in Venice. The longer the tracks and buildings were, the longer ropes could be made in them.
There is also no shortage of unique examples, such as Maciej Alojzy Seykotta's work from the mid-19th century, which shows a ropemaking workshop deep underground in the Wieliczka salt mine. Even today you can still find there in the Powroźnik cross-house, a long, straight walkway where ropes, cords and ropes for the mining industry were made. This is a remarkable testimony to the history of ropemaking in Wieliczka.
