DATE 21 - 22 March 2020
As part of the nationwide campaign called “Poland See More - Half-Price Weekend”, the Cracow Saltworks Museum in Wieliczka invites you to Wieliczka to visit the Museum Route in the salt mine on 21-22 March 2020. The group in English will be only at 11.00.
At the Wieliczka Salt Mine, at a depth of 135 m, you will find the Museum Route (accessible by elevator),which allows you to see the unique beauty of the Saurau chamber, opened to the public after several years of conservation works.

Due to its scenic qualities, preserved traces of manual mining works and the attractive location - it connects level II with level III of the mine - the Saurau Chamber was opened to tourists in 1877 shortly after works in the chamber had been discontinued. In guides published at the beginning of the 20th century, it is described as the most wonderful chamber of the tourist route at that time. It is decorated with a crystal salt chandelier and features an additional attraction: a mobile model of miners' rope descent. In the past this was also how tourists in Wieliczka would get underground.

Moreover, at the Museum you can see, among others: a collection, unique on the global scale, of horse mills (hoisting machines) and other mining equipment, tools and lighting, the charming Maria Teresa mining reserve with preserved traces of exploitation and a picturesque corner with salt decoration, maps, paintings and sculptures from underground chapels that no longer exist, as well as the multimedia chapel of John Paul II. It is worth remembering that this year marks the 100th birthday of the Polish Pope.

On a daily basis, the Museum Route can be visited by buying a ticket to the salt mine, but during the campaign it will be possible to visit it completely independently - a ticket cost PLN 9.

The cost of the ticket during the action is PLN 9. Reservation is possible from February 27, 2020, through the form that appears below. The group in English will be only at 11.00 am. Other groups are in Polish.

The Saltworks Castle in Wieliczka is another attraction recommended by the Museum. It housed historical administrative headquarters of the salt enterprise from the end of the 13th century to 1945. Today, you can see there an exhibition of salt dishes called “Saltcellars: Tiny Masterpieces”, a collection considered to be among the most valuable in the world.

The “Poland See More - Half-Price Weekend” campaign is organised by the Polish Tourism Organisation and the Ministry of Development.

The group in English will be only at 11.00.
