Its purpose is to show the beauty, richness and diversity of salt varieties occurring in Poland and in European Union countries.
The event is an idea meant to integrate the European Union countries. The Museum proposes to inhabitants of and visitors at Polish and European places related to salt – mines, salt works, salt gardens and museums – a joint execution of an exceptional photographic map of such places and thereby contributing to their promotion. Every competition participant will became a salt ambassador of his country or another country, where he became fascinated with salt.
Competition photographs will be presented at an exhibition entitled Colours of Salt in Europe between 18.11.2011 and 31.03.2012 in the exhibition space of the Cracow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka in the salt mine at a depth of 135 m. The exhibition, apart from photographs submitted to the competition, will also present a brief history of individual places related to salt.
Best competition works will be presented in an album entitled Colours of Salt in Europe.
There is a possibility of lending the exhibition to centres in countries from which the photographs derive.
